chaos theory makes the founding of the fractals. fractals is the most beautiful graphics a computer can produce.

i found some really interesting fractals on astro.phong.
and as well some basic theory on chaos theory here.
kirupa also had a nice tutorial section on actionscript and fractals.
i would highly enjoy to have fractals and generally math being a part of my vj show, but even though i just finished a level math in june i still have trouble understanding chaos theory and the world of unpredictable results based on initial failure.

since onyx-vj app plays swf by default i thought of using small generative art pieces made in swf format within my vj sets.
if you want to code generative art in swf format actionscript is the way to go.
so the first thing was to see if actionscripts compiler flexbuilder was available for linux and apparently it was, i even found a nice tutorial that took me all the way from downloading/installing flex builder to showing me how to make my first hello world swf playable in firefox etc.

then the next stop most be how to make and understand fractals. to play them under my restricted hardware and in onyx-vj they must not be too complicated but still look stunning.
i found another tutorial giving me answers to the questions of what the fractals is and how they are made in actionscript.

so actually now i have a competing visually method towards my usual footage clips .
i think my future shows will consist of equally amounts of generative art and video clips.

onyx-vj is the god-like application for me right now.
