rotor brain gives answer to something i have been thinking of in some months.
how to implement laser light inside of a nozzle’d water fountain. by nozzled i mean that the water has been put through a section that makes the water go in one direction only thereby creating a water line that appears glass-like.
with the laser light it creates a ftir effect. FTIR stands for frustrated total internal reflection, and is what happens when light travels inside a reflecting structure bouncing back and forth, thereby creating the illusion that the source of the light is hidden.
anyway enough talking here is some explaining pictures :-)(pictures taken from rotorbrain and cs.nyu.edu)

beneath the multitouch technology using ftir
beneath is the tech side of shooting laser through a water beam

elm chan made us a nice walkthrough on the tech behind creating a ground up laser projector from scratch.
he uses selfmade motors to control an x mirror and an y mirror. that done since in projecting with laser projectors you project using vectors and in that way you have clean infinitly focused motives and lines.
he can project even video. and i just got the idea of implementing his monochromatic projector with two more lasers so it can create vibrant color motives.
this is of course done by others already.
daniel araya is also making one i think
go for it.
